Dental Implants in Reading, PA
Dental implants are a popular and effective solution for replacing missing teeth. They are made of small titanium posts that are surgically placed in the jawbone, where they fuse with the bone to create a strong and stable foundation for artificial teeth.
There are several advantages to choosing dental implants for tooth replacement, including:
- Natural appearance: Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth and are often indistinguishable from the surrounding teeth.
- Improved function: Because dental implants are anchored in the jawbone, they allow you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence, just like you would with natural teeth.
- Durability: With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, making them a long-term investment in oral health and quality of life.
- Improved oral health: Unlike traditional bridges, which reduce healthy teeth, dental implants do not affect the surrounding teeth and can help preserve the jawbone and prevent further tooth loss.

Who will place my implant?
Dr. Amanda Clemente, DMD, MS. She is a periodontist, a dental specialist trained in the gums and jawbone that hold implants in place.
How much do dental implants cost?
The cost depends on how many teeth are being replaced, whether you need a bone or sinus graft first, and the crown, bridge or denture that goes on top. [add: typical price range, plus insurance and financing options].
Same-day implants, sinus lifts and healing
Can I get an implant the same day my tooth is removed?
Sometimes. It can work when there is enough healthy bone to hold the implant firmly. [add: whether Keystone offers same-day implants and for which cases]. If there isn’t enough bone, the site heals first, sometimes with a bone graft, before the implant is placed.
When is a sinus lift needed?
Your sinus sits just above the roots of your upper back teeth. If the bone beneath it is too thin to hold an implant, a sinus lift adds bone there first. We offer bone and sinus grafting at the same office.
How long does healing take?
An implant needs several months to fuse with the jawbone before the final tooth is attached. Grafting can add time. [add: Keystone’s typical start-to-finish timeline].
What Dental Implants Cost in Reading, PA
The cost of a dental implant depends on how many teeth are being replaced and what is attached to the implants: a crown, a bridge or a denture. It also depends on whether you need an extraction, bone graft or sinus lift first. Because every mouth is different, you receive a written treatment plan with the full fee before any work begins, so there are no surprises.
Typical fee: [add: starting price or typical range for a single implant, if the practice wants to publish one]
Insurance and financing: [add: dental plans the practice works with and any payment plans or financing offered]
An implant often costs more up front than a bridge or partial denture. It does not rely on grinding down neighboring teeth, which many patients weigh when comparing long-term value.
Same-Day Implants
In some cases, an implant can be placed on the same day a tooth is removed, and a temporary tooth may be attached right away. This is often called an immediate or same-day implant. It works best when the bone around the tooth is healthy and the implant is firmly stable the moment it is placed.
When the bone is thin or the area is infected, it is usually safer to remove the tooth and graft the site first. The implant is then placed after healing. Dr. Clemente will explain at your consultation which approach fits your situation.
[add: confirm whether Keystone offers same-day implants and/or same-day temporary teeth, and for which cases]
Are You a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?
Most healthy adults who are missing one or more teeth can have implants. A good candidate usually has:
- Enough jawbone to hold the implant, or is open to a bone graft to rebuild it
- Healthy gums, or gum disease that has been treated first
- General health that allows a minor oral surgery
- A commitment to daily brushing, flossing and regular cleanings
Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and some medications can slow healing or raise the risk of implant failure. These don’t always rule implants out, and we will review them with you. As a periodontal practice, we can treat gum disease and rebuild bone in the same office before your implant is placed.
Healing and Recovery After Implant Surgery
Recovery after implant placement is usually easier than people expect. Most patients have some swelling and tenderness for a few days, and soft foods are best while the area settles.
The bigger part of healing happens out of sight. Over roughly three to six months, the jawbone grows around the titanium post and locks it in place. Healing can take longer if a bone graft or sinus lift was done. Once the implant is stable, your final crown, bridge or denture is attached.
After that, implants need the same daily brushing and flossing as natural teeth. Regular professional cleanings keep the gums and bone around them healthy for the long term.
When a Sinus Lift Is Needed
The upper back teeth sit just below the maxillary sinuses. After those teeth are lost, the bone underneath often shrinks and the sinus can drop lower, leaving too little height to hold an implant.
A sinus lift gently raises the sinus membrane and places bone graft material beneath it, creating room for the implant. You may need one if:
- You are replacing upper molars or premolars
- Those teeth have been missing for some time
- Your X-rays or scan show thin bone below the sinus
Sometimes the implant can be placed at the same visit as the lift. In other cases the graft heals first. Bone and sinus grafting are done here in our office.
