COSMETIC CROWN LENGTHENING

Cosmetic Crown Lengthening is a dental procedure involving removing gum tissue, bone, or both to expose more of the tooth structure. This procedure is often performed for aesthetic reasons to improve the appearance of a “gummy” smile, where too much gum tissue covers the teeth, making them appear shorter. Crown lengthening is also sometimes necessary to prepare a tooth for a crown or other restoration by providing adequate tooth structure for proper placement and stability of the restoration. The procedure can be performed using a scalpel or laser and is usually performed under local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. The recovery period is typically short, with most patients returning to normal activities within a few days.
